My Bubble Has Been Burst

My bubble has been burst.  I was so happy to find places to swap.  I have encountered some very rude and unfriendly people on Split Coast Stampers website.    I have tried to join a few groups and get no reply.  I have also joined one and then found out I was not eligible to join a swap because I was a “newbie”.  However, the hostess of the swap has been very gracious and helpful in trying to help me find my way on this site.    I have found a few other sites that seem to be friendlier but they still have strict rules about being rated before you can swap.  If you are not allowed to swap, then how, on earth can you can get rated.   I was under the impression that everyone had to be new at one point or another.  No, I will not die if I cannot do a swap.  I thought it would be really fun to create and get something traded and compare the different techniques of how things are done.  But most of all I was looking forward to sharing and bonding with other crafters and artist.   I think that is all I have to say on this subject, except I am sad, but I will get over it as this too shall pass.  Thanks for listening to me and hope to see you again soon…..

I'm sorry you have run into some "crusty" people on SCS. I have found most to be very helpful.
I like to do swaps also and I have found the same thing you did. Can't swap unless you belong to a "special" group, so I join the challenges (when I can) that are offered.
I love Splitcoast and have learned so much there. Don't give up on them.

Marlene....sometimes some of these places are real clickie....I think that taking workshops and learning new types of mixed media art is the best way to go. I plan on taking SheArt2, Christy Tomlinson teaches this class and if you sign up before Oct. 1st...you pay only 35.00 not the regular price which is a few dollars more. Then not only that you get this class for 6 months to go at it, at your own pace. I took number 1 and just loved it. It was my first workshop I have ever done and learned so much. If you need a link to it let me know. It is on her blog, I bet you can find it. Then there are all of kinds of tutorials for free out there. Found some the other day if you would like the link, let me know....sorry you had to deal with some not so nice people.

So sorry you had this experience. My friend Debbi Baker is into swapping - chat with her and she may be able to help you find somewhere else to do the swaps.

Hi again Marlene -good on you posting this-it astonishes me sometimes how superior some people are.I went to join a swap on SWAP BOT and by the time i finished reading all her rules and regulation I was totally exhausted!!!-but she was also downright rude and offensive to (our favourite word!!!)"newbies".I said exactly the same as you "were'nt we all new at some stage "......-I got nowhere -her rules were her rules-that said there are some lovely people there -just watch out for different swaps.Have you seen Hands and Heart-its a lovely site run by Monica-take a look and let me know what you think.Keep the faith girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry you are having such difficulty with swapping. I have done a few, but didn't know there were rules for "newbie". Don't get discouraged.

It can be frustrating...I try to do my best and enjoy creating my swaps...I figure I only have to deal with a rude person briefly but they have to be with themselves 24/7...that makes me chuckle and move on...good luck...

Marlene, you are welcomed to my swaps anytime you keep a good rating. :)
I would suggest you get your thyroid checked. My hormones were a mess after I turned 60 and I have been on meds since then and I am now 76.

Do you belong to any Yahoo groups for stampers? I'm in several and the swapping is fun! All levels of experience are accepted. Two of my favorites - therubberinker and Stampingswaps.
